The Growing Dynamic of Pure Scots Pine Stands Using Different Thinning Regimes in Lithuania

چکیده

The aim of this study is to relate initial stand density and thinning intensity tree diameter, height, volume increment based on continuous 30-year observations in experimental stands Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.). experiments were established 1990 1992, the model each trial comprised five variants: control four plots with densities up 3.0–4.4, 2.0–2.4, 1.0–1.2, 0.5–0.6 thousand trees per hectare after thinning. Since establishment, only dead removed plots, other thinned according predefined treatment plans. Our shows that lowest diameter was found highest most intensive which 1.5 times higher. However, intensification signs growth stabilization cannot guarantee them position productivity cumulative future.

Thinning Response and Growth Trends of Seeded Scots Pine Stands at the Arctic Timberline

Growth patterns and reactions of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) to thinning in extremely harsh climatic conditions were studied in two seeded Scots pine stands located on the arctic timberline. Coniferous trees usually do not form closed stands at the timberline, but occur only in scattered tree groups. The trial was established in two stands in 1985–1986 when the trees were at an age of 47 a...

Thinning Response and Thinning Bias in a Young Scots Pine Stand

The study analyses the annual post-thinning response and thinning bias of a young Scots pine stand as a function of tree size, competition faced by the tree, and competition that is removed around the tree in the thinning treatment. The thinning response of a tree was defi ned as the change of tree growth due to a thinning treatment. The thinning bias was defi ned as the difference between the ...

Area-Based Mapping of Defoliation of Scots Pine Stands Using Airborne Scanning LiDAR

The mapping of changes in the distribution of insect-caused forest damage remains an important forest monitoring application and challenge. Efficient and accurate methods are required for mapping and monitoring changes in insect defoliation to inform forest management and reporting activities. In this research, we develop and evaluate a LiDAR-driven (Light Detection And Ranging) approach for ma...
